There’s something profoundly troubling about treating a woman’s life – her love, marriage, family, career, and even her reproductive choices – as material for someone’s amusement or advantage. It reflects a deeper sickness in our culture. What’s even more disheartening is when anyone, including women, upholds or excuses this kind of behavior. It speaks to a society that has lost its sense of dignity and respect.
Which has led me to this full-circle moment: I would never deny any woman the freedom to fall in love, to marry, to preserve her fertility, to pursue motherhood in the way that best suits her, or to build her own financial independence. These are fundamental choices that belong to solely to her. Which raises an important question: when people defend actions that undermine these rights, whose interests are they truly serving?
Sincerely,
I’m done entertaining this.
